Redhead banned from school for having bright hair

16 April 2015

Emily Reay is only 17 and has been recently banned from school because of her hair color. After the student in her last year of A-levels came back from Easter break, her teachers at Trinity School, Carlisle, Cumbria all agreed that the natural color of Reay’s hair was inappropriate. Unless she changes her hair color, she will be continue to be banned from school. In an interview Emily expressed her anger and frustration for being asked to change something about herself. She said: “Everybody knows me as that ‘young ginger singer’. For me it is a confidence thing. If I had to dye my hair brown, I would lose this.” However, Emily and her parents said that if this is what is standing in the way of Emily’s education, they will have to comply.
