Anne Marie is giving us all 2002 memories and it hits right in the feels with her latest track “2002.”
The past few years have had many different characterising factors but one of the most prominent is the nostalgic feeling about the late 90s and early 2000s that has everyone reminiscing over the simpler times of not so long ago.
Anne Marie figured that out and made an awesome song filled with references from that time, which is almost 20 years away now… let that sink in.
“2002” references almost all major hits from Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby One More Time,” to NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye,” Jay Z’s “99 Problems” and Nelly’s “Hot in Herre.” It’s not only music and outfits that Anne Marie brings back because if I’m not mistaken that end scene is very similar to the last scene from Step Up, which was released in 2006 but is still closer to 2002 than 2018!
