US pop singer, Demi Lovato, broke her silence in an Instagram post after having suffered a drug overdose last month.

The “Sober” singer dedicated the post to her fans, family, team, and the Cedars Sinai hospital thanking them for their support, love, and care.

She also stated that she needs time to heal and focus on getting back on track with her sobriety.

“I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side.”

Demi struggled with drug and alcohol abuse during her adult life and she has been very vocal about the matter through her YouTube documentary “Simply Complicated.” The former Disney star explained how her struggles began when she first tried cocaine at 17. Lovato has been sober for the past six years before a relapse earlier this year.

Demi is a great inspiration when it comes to dealing with mental health issues. The singer battled an eating disorder since she was 8 and was later diagnosed with Bipolar Disease during her first rehabilitation process.  She has also been an example when it came to sobering up and focusing on loving one’s self up until her current relapse. However, what matters is that she is back at it and is still willing to fight! Stay strong Demi! <3
