The Weeknd graces us with a new EP, My Dear Melancholy, and fans are trying to decipher who of his exes it’s about.
The Weeknd had a great professional streak in the past few years but more than one bump in the romantic domain. He was dating model Bella Hadid for almost two years before the two called it quits and that devastated us. After that he went out with Selena Gomez for almost a year before the two broke up due to conflicting schedules. Our hearts seemed to be breaking more than theirs because we thought it was awesome in both instances.
The Weeknd has now suddenly dropped a six-song EP titled My Dear Melancholy probably referring to both relationships, telling us how dedicated he was to his respective partners. The words are as per the artist’s habit on the graphic side but we can feel the pain and the heartache nevertheless.
Fans spent the weekend trying to decipher who is the main subject of this sudden album, specifically the single that led the release “Call Out My Name.”
We love “Call Out My Name” and think this one is targeted towards Selena more than Bella especially when we consider the fact that The Weeknd almost donated a kidney to Selena who was suffering from Lupus and needed a kidney transplant.
“I said I didn’t feel nothing, baby, but I lied / I almost cut a piece of myself for your life / Guess I was just another pit stop / ‘Til you made up your mind / You just wasted my time.”
We also believe that “made up your mind” has something to do with Justin Bieber since he and Selena got back together after her breakup.
